Your Fear Gets Smaller As You Walk Towards It

Have you ever noticed how your fears get smaller as you move towards them? As you confront them head on?
(And no, I don’t mean when you suddenly find yourself between a mama bear and her cubs. That fear probably won’t get smaller when you face mama bear head on)

I’m talking about the fear of doing something new, of doing something different. The fear of what will happen when you leave your comfort zone.

HERE’S WHAT I’VE FOUND

Though I knew it was really important for me to reach out to people in my network, among them people I hadn’t spoken to in years, I was afraid to do so. Afraid they wouldn’t know who I was. Afraid they would think I was being obnoxious. Afraid they would not want to speak to me.

YOU KNOW WHAT?

I’m sure this was true for some of them and I didn’t get to speak to them.

BUT HERE’S THE KICKER

A lot of people not only remembered who I was; they were very happy I reached out to them and eager to catch up.

THE BEST PART?

The more I reached out to people the easier it got. The more I reached out the smaller my fear got.

THAT’S NOT ALL THOUGH

I’ve found this to be true for most of my fears.

The more often I walk the path towards my fear, the smaller that fear gets. Sometimes it just becomes manageable while at other times it completely disappears.

THE VERY BEST PART?

Having faced fear before, makes facing new fears easier.

SO …

What fear is holding you back from what you want to do?

What fears are you facing that keep you from moving in the directions you want to go?

NOW …

Fear is like shame – bring it out in the open, shine a light on it and it gets smaller!

So find someone to talk to about and help you move beyond those fears.

You’ve can do this! I believe in you and am here to support you!
