Day #11

Identify The Gap

When you compare the ideal day you just described and the actual days of your life, it is likely you will notice a gap between the two.

That gap is what needs to be bridged if you are to live the life you want for yourself.

Describe what that gap looks like.

For example: if you are a baker and you dream of being a lawyer, you very probably need to get a law degree and pass the bar exam before you can put up a shingle next to your door.

Day #12

Reverse engineer your ideal life

You’ve identified the gap between where you are now and where you want to be (i.e. your ideal life).

Now take that knowledge and reverse engineer your ideal life.

You can do this by starting at the end (i.e. your ideal life) and start thinking backwards from there to where you are now.

What is the last step you will take to step into your ideal life?

What was the step before that one? And the one before that? And so on.

Day #13

Identify 3 Things PLUS BONUS MATERIAL

Using your notes from the previous exercises, you can identify a couple of things:

  • What knowledge and skills do you need to acquire or further develop?
  • How, where and when will you do that?
  • What support do you need and from whom?
  • What actions will you take?

Once you’ve completed this exercise, use all that you’ve learned over these first 13 days to create a visual of how you’ll feel when you live your life as you want to.

Bonus Material: Create A Vision Board

There are many ways in which you can do this. I like to use a vision board, but please feel free to choose a visualisation practice that suits you best!

How to create a your vision board:

  1. Decide how you want to feel when you’ve realised your goal(s). Try to use single words for the emotions you want to feel like freedom, joy, fulfilment, valued, etc.
  2. Gather your supplies (pin board or poster, paper, magazines, scissors, glue, markers, pens, paint, etc.)
  3. Create a space comfortable and large enough to accommodate you and your supplies. Create a comfortable, stimulating atmosphere
  4. Find your images and words that appeal to you and represent the feelings that align with your goals
  5. Pin them to the board or paste them to the poster: arrange the images and words on your board or poster. Choose images and words that inspire you and stay away from things that make you compare yourself to others as that will only make you feel bad about yourself
  6. Put your vision board where you can see it every day
  7. Notice and deal with any resistance. Maybe some old habits or ideas need to be examined and replaced with new ones
  8. Check in with yourself: regularly check whether you’re still on the right track. Make adjustments in your board or actions as needed.

Day #14

First Steps

We’ve almost reached the end of the »Live Your Own Life Masterclass«. It’s time to have the rubber meet the road and act on what you’ve been learning over the previous 13 days.

Yesterday you identified 3 things: 

  1. what you need to learn
  2. what support you will need
  3. what actions you will take

Now I want you to commit!

Out of all the actions you identified yesterday, I want you to identify three steps that you will take in the upcoming weeks.

Don’t just say “I will do A, B and C”. 

Be specific.

You will do A because of the following reasons and you will do A by this date.

I want you to share each of your three steps in the Facebook group.

You don’t have to explain every one of your reasons for choosing these steps (though you may), but I do want you to tell us by when you expect to have taken undertaken the action that comes with it.

Not because we’re going to call you out on it, but rather because sharing your intentions is one way of making sure you’ll actually do what you say you’ll do.

Day #15

A Letter To Yourself

For this exercise I want you to write an actual letter to yourself.

Write a letter to yourself, including today’s date, highlighting key points you’ve learned from the course, things you want to bring more of into your life, dreams, reminders, anything that will keep you inspired to continue on the path you’ve started out on this weekend.

Stick the letter in an envelope and write your name and address on it. Give the envelope to someone you trust and ask them to mail it to you 3 months from today.

Or you can scan the letter (or write it as an email) and send it to me. In 3 months’ time I will send it back to you.

The letter will serve as a reminder of the intentions you’ve set, the dreams you’ve started to dream and the actions you promised yourself you are going to take
