Become Comfortable With Uncertainty And You Might Come To Live Your Passion

For years I was uncomfortable with certainty. I had the certainty of a house, a car, a steady & comfortable income and a good job. Only thing was, in my job I often felt as though I was an actor in the wrong play. The fact that my heart wasn’t really in it didn’t really help.

Only when I had worked myself into a burnout and had taken stock of my life, did I find the courage to start thinking about leaving behind all that certainty to start pursuing something different.

At the time I didn’t know what that ‘different’ was, but I found that was okay. I could handle uncertainty.

When I decided to move to a different country I introduced even more uncertainty into my life.

  • I left behind a good income for an uncertain income that was undoubtedly going to be only a fraction of what I had been earning.
  • I left behind a pension fund with no possibility in the foreseeable future to start investing in a pension again.
  • I left behind friends and family to move to a place where I knew few if any people.
  • I left behind a good job as an interim manager still not knowing exactly how I was going to provide for myself.

However I got plenty in return.

  • I moved to the mountains and feel totally at home there
  • I became a guide and coach living my passion
  • I made new friends who like me are passionate about mountains and living a free and independent life
  • I no longer felt boxed in. Instead I could breath freely

I didn’t get the kind of certainty I described above. What I did get though was the certainty that I feel as though I have the starring role in the right play and that trumps all the uncertainty that comes with it!
